David teaches part time for the WEA, Plymouth University and the Football Association. Originally employed by British Rail on leaving school, he later attended Ruskin College Oxford and then studied at Warwick and Leeds Universities as a mature student. His academic specialisms are economics, human resource management and employment law. He has a strong interest in industrial history, is a volunteer signalman on the West Somerset Railway assisting in signalling training and is a tour guide at the King Edward Mine Museum. In addition to this he is an FA tutor and football author. He is married with two children and three grandchildren.
