So, who do you think you are?  Would you love to know where your family came from or how they lived?  This course will give you the skills to start answering those fascinating questions; you could develop a lifelong passion!

Course content will take us back to 1837: family sources; keeping records; surnames; using birth, marriage and death certificates; drawing a basic family tree; census records; use of Internet sources to locate certificates and census material, as well as common pitfalls.  It will include a visit to the Cornish Studies Library.

The course aims to foster the desire to research family history; enable participants to use basic genealogical documents to obtain relevant information and record it in a meaningful way and to encourage participants to use primary evidence in their research.

Students require notebook, pencil/pen and basic computer skills, such as the ability to use a mouse and log on to the Internet, would be desirable but not essential.
