Makaton is a language programme using signing, speech and symbols to provide a basic means of communication and encourage language and literacy development in children and adults with communication and learning difficulties. We offer 2-day Follow-up Workshops throughout the county, all taught by Tigger Pritchard, a Makaton accredited trainer. Workshops are suitable for family members, carers and workers who need to use Makaton at home or in the workplace and this Follow-up Workshop is suitable for those who have already completed the beginners’ workshop gained the Beginners Workshop certificate of attendance.
The Follow-up Workshop concentrates on improving and developing signing and symbols skills and develops everyday use of the Makaton programme. Signing instruction is given for Core Vocabulary Stages 5-8 and will provide learners with the theory and background to the Makaton vocabulary programme and to enable learners to use the signs and symbols with people who have communication difficulties.
Students receive a Makaton certificate upon completion. Manuals are included in the workshop fees.
