Get to Know Your Sewing Machine (St Ives) with Jo McIntosh

A 6 week course for those who would like to know how to use a sewing machine with confidence which will enable learners to become familiar with a sewing machine and the ways it can be used when sewing garments etc.  No prior knowledge necessary.  Topics covered as follows:

Identify parts of a sewing machine;

Being able to use different stitch settings;

How to make buttonholes;

How to put a zip in;

How to applique using a sewing machine;

How to create gathers and frills;

Basic troubleshooting tips

Course cost includes some basic materials – Students should bring scissors, cotton, pins, needles and spare bobbins. You should bring your sewing machine, but the tutor has some machines so please contact the Cornwall office on 01872 320036 to enquire about availability. Please wear suitable clothing and bring a notebook and pencil/pen. Please remember to bring glasses if you need them for close work.
